The Bing Crosby Pro-Am and Clambake!

The 28th Bing Crosby Pro-Am (or “The Crosby” as it was affectionately known) took place in 1969, and Robert M. Thompson’s illustration featured two of his guests that year, pals Dean Martin and Phil Harris. Actor, comedian, musician and songwriter Harris was a consistent participant in the event and a lifelong friend to Bing Crosby.

Harris’ antics on the course added to the color of the event. It was said that a glass of whiskey always accompanied his golf game, one year proclaiming himself “the pro from the Jack Daniels Country Club.”

This was the second of 7 Vintage TV Art renderings by Robert M. Thompson on “The Crosby.”
